Ongoing Activities at the Shellfish Laboratory
Oyster Shell Bagging: Learn about the GEORGIA Project (Generating Enhanced Oyster Reefs in Georgia’s Inshore Areas). This program recycles oyster shell to create new oyster reefs, and enhances stewardship and public awareness of the importance of oyster reef habitats along the Georgia coast. Learn how volunteers and staff place recycled oyster shell into mesh bags that will be used to enhance future oyster reefs. Participate in bagging your own oyster shells.
Skidaway Institute of Oceanography
Donate $3 for an opportunity to win an iPad. Proceeds will benefit the Skidaway Marine Science Foundation student intern program.
