Welcome to the Brandes Lab!
I am a biogeochemist with expertise in stable isotopes, x-ray microscopy, nutrient cycling and organic geochemistry. In particular, I am interested in determining the mechanisms controlling the flow of C, N, and P in ecosystems, from extremely large basin-wide scales to nanoscales. Tackling problems over such wide spatial scales provides a different view of diagenesis.

 
Personal History
I received my undergraduate degree from Humboldt State University, California in Chemistry and Oceanography. I then went to the University of Washington and completed a Ph.D. in Chemical Oceanography. I followed that with a postdoctoral stint at the Carnegie Institution of Washington and a six year stint at the University of Texas at Austin.
