FISHERIES

Video cameras installed at a tower provide real-time observations not previously available for regional fisheries management research in this continental shelf setting. The video records will contribute to establishing a regional index of grouper population abundance, size structure and spawning potential. In addition to evaluating the behavioral responses of fish to environmental variations on tidal, daily, and seasonal time scales, the continuous record will provide information on the effects of stochastic environmental events.
